M-SYSTEM 75-150mm F4

It's one of the rarest/hardest lenses to come across in the M-SYSTEM series.

A common problem of the 75-150mm F4 lens is hazy middle element. Sometimes it's an easy fix but for some it's pretty difficult to access the element. I managed to remove most of the haze of my copy (considered its age, it's not too bad already).

I actually made it slightly cleaner than the above photo, only some very stubborn marks towards the edge of the element.

The bigger problem is that I am still figuring how to adjust the infinity focus of the lens.

It's said to be a PARFOCAL lens but now when I achieve infinity focus at the 75mm end, the lens goes past infinity at the 150mm end or if I achieve infinity at 150mm, the lens couldn't reach infinity at the 75mm end. WEIRD. I am still thinking of a way to get it fixed but there's not much information about this lens on the net. If any of the readers have information, please feel free to share with me.

Just a quick test of the lens on A7RII. Straight out of camera.

The lens is one of the products of Olympus back in the 70s, one of those earliest zooms. Olympus zooms, except the 35-80mm F2.8ED, are mostly ignored and can be bought for some cheap bucks. They don't get much attention in fact.

The lens is pretty soft overall. It gets better after getting to F8 or above but still not impressive at all.

F22

For a lens which you can get on eBay or other auction sites at very cheap prices, seriously there's not much to ask for.

It's a historical piece but a very basic zoom lens and a very average performer.

Cheers,

Wilfred
