Latest finds

As mentioned in my previous posts, M-1 was released together with a set of 9 lenses.

28mm F3.5

35mm F2.8

50mm F1.4

50mm F1.8

55mm F1.2

100mm F2.8

135mm F3.5

200mm F4

75-150mm F4

Among the 9 lenses, the 55mm F1.2, 75-150mm F4 are the rarest.

I never thought that I could get an M-SYSTEM version 55mm F1.2, not to mention a misengraved M-SYSTE version.

However, after finding the above two lenses I noticed that the M-SYSTEM 75-150mm F4 is actually as rare as the 55mm F1.2.

They haven't shown up on eBay at all and very rarely they popped up on Japanese sites.

Finally, I managed to find one last week and it's about to be shipped.

That reignited my thought of collecting all the M-SYSTEM lenses.

So these days I tried to surf the net and managed to find this...

It's the M-SYSTEM version 135mm F3.5. Look at the serial #100112

Test shot - Pretty sharp

This is probably the first batch and is earlier than the documented one on Mark Dapoz's site.

The lens came with some fungus marks and scratches but for such an early lens, there's not much room to complain about.

Then today, I tried to walk around some thrift stores to look for possible replacement element.

I found an M-SYSTEM 135mm F3.5 again!! It's very cheap with fungus marks but still I got it.

After getting the lens, I revisited the shop to look for the missing lenses in the lineup but no hope.

So I hopped on the bus and thought of what to have for dinner. Suddenly, my mind told me to get off the bus to another camera shopping mall.

I walked around the mall, saw a 28mm F3.5. I hesitated and I went to the upper floor. I later discovered that it's an OM-SYSTEM version. However, I saw a brand new 35-80mm F2.8 ED.

Then, I saw two 35mm F2.8s sitting on the shelf and the shop keeper was playing games.

One of the lenses was very dusty but it's a silvernose so I asked the shop keeper for a look at the lenses.

He was a bit pissed off and reluctantly stopped his game and opened the shelf.

I opened the lens cap of the first lens, OM-SYSTEM version. Not a big surprise.

Then I opened the cap of the dusty lens and HELL NO, I read the serial... 1 ....0 ...7...1....7....1

It's an M-SYSTEM version!!!!! And it's like new.

So I got it as well.

I'll probably get the remaining lenses in the lineup to complete the collection.

It's a pretty special week, an M-SYSTEM week I would call it.

Cheers,

Wilfred
